The eclipse circus is rolling into town. Here where I’m at we will have 99.6 % eclipse. Poor Pinedale, population 2000, is expecting 30,000 visitors. There are no available motel rooms or campground spaces available for 200 miles. Just up the road in Jackson where they are at 100 % eclipse, the town is relaxing it’s zoning laws and people are renting out bedrooms for $1000 a night, minimum 3 nights. The Rendezvous Lodge is renting chairs to watch the eclipse for $375 each. It’s going to be a zoo. Neither Dick Cheney or Harrison Ford have sent me invitations to watch the eclipse at their palatial mansions, so I guess I’m on my own to find a place to watch.
There are multiple fires burning in Western Montana. The wind patterns are bringing that smoke down to us. It’s so thick I can barely see the mountain peaks just to the east. It is thick enough that you can almost begin to smell it.
August is here. Nothing much has been going on, just working on a few projects. The county fair was last weekend. The weather has stabilized and warmed up. Warm means upper 70’s to low 80’s.
